A Silent Auction for a Good Cause

I am putting a silent auction for my most hearted painting in my Etsy shop. The auction's starting bid is $10.00. All proceeds of the auction will benefit the community of Barangay Monteverde at the town of Socorro, Mindoro, Philippines. Metanoia-PCU, a socio-civic organization in Philippine Christian University will conduct the outreach/mission to the community through Amaina Christian Church to bring rice, canned goods, used clothes, medicines and computers. Barangay Monteverde is a fifth class barangay, meaning, more than 70 percent of the people are living below poverty level.

Help me reach their goal of Php49,600 by December 31, which is about $1,033.33 in US dollars. For more details, check out these sites:

All in a days work

The beginning of the week was such an ordeal as my hubby and I has to deal with fraud against our accounts. Thank God that it's over now and our bank & PayPal has helped us a lot.

Even the week started with a tension, I have to move on and continue the projects I'm doing. One of my projects that I still have to start is a painting of my childhood bestfriend and her fiance. They are getting married on November in Toronto, Canada and even though our presence in the wedding is still pending...I'm so honored that she included me in, my hubby and my little sweetie in the bridal entourage.

I'll be one of the bridesmaids and my hubby will be one of the groomsmen and my little sweetie will be a flower girl.
So, now...either I make my gold bridesmaid's dress with cranberry red belt/sash or I'll buy it. But for now...I need to focus at my present projects.

Aside from the painting, one important one is a gift for my hubby (glad he doesn't have time to read my blog--*wink*). I'm making him a messenger bag out of his old suit coat. Of course, I check with him first if he really doesn't like that suit coat anymore. I just finished cutting it...I'll post here the end result before Father's Day.

Art Exhibit: Spring to Life

This will be my first art show. A friend of mine who owns an art center in downtown Covington, Kentucky invited me to display my art works this coming March. It's at Passionate Art Center located along Pike Street . I am living my dream...that's how I phrase my life since I made a vow with my better half in 2005 and delivered our first baby in 2006.

But what I didn't expect was to have an art show this year. I've always just picture that in my dream, ever since I was a kid. I've joined art contests in elementary and my drawings & posters were exhibited in the school's art club. After that, I thought my road in art ended when I entered college and took a degree in Computer Science. But my passion in art has never change.

The title of the show is "Spring to Life".

Definition: v., sprang (sprăng) or sprung (sprŭng), sprung, spring·ing, springs. To issue or emerge suddenly To move upward or forward in a single quick motion or a series of such motions; leap. To cause to leap, dart, or come forth suddenly

As for me, this will be a leap for me...a leap of faith. I may sell or may not sell, but the feeling of coming out from being confined behind the computer while selling my arts & prints is definitely great! Thanks to Barb, owner of Passionate Art Center for opening the door of her center to emerging artists like myself. Of course, I owe this big hearty thank you also to my husband who encourages me in what I do and critics me as well.
