Pass the Cheer!

I remember writing almost 6 months ago a topic of Starbucks or God . As such, I had my own opinion of the heated issue. So for a long time, we tried to supress our starbucks coffee intake. Wow, what a way to save too! Instead of buying two cups of grande caramel coffee off the counter, we just made our own latte with starbucks coffee grounds. In the end, we also discovered Folgers coffee which has more lasting aroma than my favorite Verona coffee.

I realized how much we spent on coffee when we moved to Columbus (since we don't have starbucks in Warsaw where we used to live before we moved to Columbus) and how much we saved not going out for a coffee after that issue. But being a coffee connoisseur (self-proclaimed) , it's quite hard to quit looking at the inviting ambiance of the coffee place, the soft couches for their customers to jumped on, and the fact that I like their tap water. I don't why, but it just taste good! In this process, letting go of something you really want is God's one way of teaching you self-control also. Self-control on caffeine intake and spending.

When we moved here in Cincinnati, there's Starbucks everywhere. Most especially, they have a lot of drive thru outlets here than anywhere in Columbus. So we ended up getting a venti (we share in one cup) in the process of our move. At least, the cup is red...which I always wait in a year...for their cup to turn red! (it means for me...Christmas is near).

I heard in one of the sermons in one of the church we visited here in Cincy about the Starbucks ad campaign "Pass the Cheer." Starbucks has given cheer passes to people and in return you can pass the cheer to someone by giving 'em complimentary drinks. It happened in LA and other states and it became a chain reaction. I may have cut my coffee cups in Starbucks but kudos on this ad campaign they have. I wish they just have this all year long!

Alright to "Pass The Cheer", you don't have to just buy a complimentary coffee to that person who doesn't even get hype with caffeine, you can just buy a bottle of water, hold the door for someone, pay someone else's jeepney fair, get a cab for someone...oh a million ways.

I guess, SBUX has a way to soften any person aggravated with their offending cups. And even as a big-time business and it's just for their marketing purposes to get more people to buy red cups of coffee, I think it's great to spread the idea of passing the cheer to someone especially to people you don't know by offering kind gestures.

My sister-in-law gave us a giftcard for a cup of coffee in starbucks for Christmas. We passed our cheers already but there's still more opportunity out there.

Anyway, still...pass the cheer to local coffee shops around you. Buy a cup of coffee to small coffee stores other than Starbucks, that's one way to pass the cheer---so they won't close
